The Blessing – A Six Week Sermon Series to begin October 4, 2015
Imagine a young man, Brian, standing over his comatose father begging, “Dad, please wake up.” Before his father dies he longs to hear the words, “I love you.” He so wants reconciliation. His anguish reflects years of pain and estrangement. But resolution would not come. Brian now weeps and is absorbing the physical loss of his father but only beginning to grapple with the pain of losing any chance of ever receiving his father’s blessing.
As a pastor I have seen the profound and often debilitating effects of the absence of blessing in a child’s formative years. Personally I have experienced it as well. We are meant for blessing but it is too often omitted from our lives. We are left limping and at times unable to walk. And we are unwittingly inclined to repeat the absence of blessing which produced us. The generational curse, without intention, knows no end.
How, as we raise our children, can we avoid or at least minimize the absence of blessing. Know what it is and how to express! On October 4th I will begin a six weeks series on The Blessing. The series has been life changing for many in the past. It has the same power to this day. Come and hear how the blessing ordained by God will equip you to be a better parent, spouse, child and friend. Become an avenue of Grace to everyone God places in your life.
