GLEANINGS (from the Daily Office) – Stand Firm – Year Two, Epiphany, Friday, January 8, 2016, Colossians 1:15-23

“not shifting from the hope of the Gospel which you have heard”

It is amazing in what we will put our hope. Education, business, government, and selves are but to name a few. But none abide. Why? Depravity! Humans are the core of each. Of all.  Consequently they will fail and fail miserably.

Hope resides in only one place, in what God can do in an individual through what He had done for him. Progress is largely a myth. Some days are better than others when collectively we live redeemed lives rooted in the Gospel. That’s our hope. There isn’t another.
